About us

Who we are and why we do what we do

The Association for the Social Integration of Minorities is an organisation that supports Roma communities, with special attention to young people, children and vulnerable families. Our work starts from the community and aims for real access to legal identity, education, healthcare, social services, information and opportunities.

In the last three years, we have supported over 300 families in need, provided aid to 450 Roma families and helped over 40 Roma children and young people access high school or university. We provided guidance for obtaining identity documents, supported vulnerable cases, informed communities and brought their problems into dialogue with institutions.

We believe social integration is not built only through one-off aid. It begins when people know their rights, can reach the institutions they need and are represented where decisions are made.

Our story

The association grew out of the need to turn the difficulties faced by Roma communities into concrete solutions. Behind every case there is a person for whom a missing identity document, school dropout, poverty or difficult access to public services can block an entire life path.

That is why we intervene both directly, through guidance, social support and facilitating access to education or healthcare, and institutionally, through advocacy, meetings with authorities, proposals and representing recurring problems. Our goal is for the solving of one individual case to become the starting point of a change that helps the whole community.

Our mission

We reduce the administrative, educational, social and economic barriers faced by people from Roma communities and support their effective access to rights, services and opportunities.

Our vision

Communities where ethnic origin or material situation does not limit a child's access to education, a family's access to public services or a young person's access to a professional and civic future.

Our values

Dignity

Every person is treated with respect.

Equal opportunities

Rights must be accessible in practice.

Representation

The community's voice must reach the decision table.

Education

We support educational journeys that can change destinies.

Accountability

We communicate honestly and measure the results of our work.

Collaboration

We work together with institutions, professionals, partners and communities.

Message from the president

"Integration does not begin in a document or a speech. It begins the moment a child reaches high school, a young person enters university, a person obtains their identity document, and a family finds the support they need.

In our work we have learned that every case must be listened to, understood and carried forward to the institutions that can produce change. That is why we work directly in the community, but also through advocacy and institutional dialogue. We want the people we represent to be not just beneficiaries, but active participants in the decisions that shape their lives."

Our intervention model

  1. We identify the problem. We listen to people and understand the real difficulties in the community.
  2. We intervene. We support the beneficiary in solving the concrete situation.
  3. We document. We track the causes and check whether the problem appears in other cases.
  4. We represent. We bring the situation into dialogue with institutions and authorities.
  5. We propose solutions. We support measures that can produce change for more members of the community.

Our principle: solving a single case is not enough. We must understand why the problem appears and what can be changed so it does not happen again.
